Environmental and Sustainability Policy

Division One Ltd will ensure that all aspects of our activities are conducted in accordance with sound environmental and sustainable practices. Rob Sedgwick, Managing Director, is responsible for ensuring that the environmental policy is implemented, however all employees have a responsibility in their area of work to ensure that the aims and objectives of the policy are met. All Division One Ltd employees will have access to this policy.

Policy Aims

Division One Ltd endeavours to:

- Complying with environmental legislation and good sustainability practice;

- Incorporate environmental factors into business decisions

- Continually improve and monitor environmental performance

- Continually impress and reduce environmental impacts

- Increase employee awareness

Division One Ltd will aim to:


- Minimise the use of paper and other office consumables, for example double-siding all paper used and identifying opportunities to reduce waste

- Reduce packaging as much as possible

- Seek to buy recycled and recyclable paper products

- Reuse and recycle all paper where possible

Energy and Water

- Seek to reduce the amount of energy used as much as possible

- Lights and electrical equipment will be switched off when not in use

- Heating will be adjusted with energy consumption in mind

- The energy consumption and efficiency of new products will be considered when purchasing

Office Supplies

- Evaluate if the need can be met in another way

- Evaluate if renting/ sharing is an option before purchasing equipment

- Evaluate the environmental impact of any new products we intend on purchasing

- Favour more environmentally friendly and efficient products wherever possible

- Arrange for the reuse or recycling of office waste, including paper, computer supplies and redundant equipment 

- Reduce the energy consumption of office equipment by purchasing energy efficient equipment and good housekeeping

Maintenance and Cleaning

- Use cleaning materials that are environmentally friendly, if possible

- Use environmentally friendly materials if office refurbishment is required, if possible

- Only use licensed and appropriate organised to dispose waste

Purchase of Materials

- Seek to use materials with recycled content, where practical

- Seek to use local suppliers and FCS certified or sustainable sourced materials, where practical

- Select materials, where possible and allowable, that can be re-used at a later stage

- Invest in new products and processes that have an improved performance regarding their impact on the environment

- Continue to seek alternative materials for use in construction, providing both environmental and health benefits


- Reduce fuel consumption by careful planning of transportation of personnel, materials and equipment

- Reduce the need to travel, restricting to necessity trips only

- Promote the use of travel alternatives such as e-mail or video/ phone conferencing

Monitoring and Improvement

- Comply with and exceed all relevant regulatory requirements 

- Continue to improve and monitor environmental performance

- Continue to improve and reduce environmental impacts

- Incorporate environmental factors in business decisions

- Increase employee awareness through training


- Involve staff in the implementation of policy, for greater commitment and improved performance

- Update this policy at least once annually in consultation with staff and other stakeholders where necessary

- Provide staff with relevant environmental training

- Work with suppliers, contractors and sub-contractors to improve their environmental performance

- Use local materials (and labour) where available to reduce C)2 and help the community

- Prevent disturbance of the local community and environment through minimising noise, odour and visual impacts resulting from our activities
